Why use Flower Essences?

Flower Essences are gentle, subtle and a safe treatment for emotional health. They offer a unique source of inspiration, support and healing. Flower essences encourage our mental, emotional and physical wellbeing. When we listen to a piece of music, view our favourite piece of art, our senses can react in a way that is gentle yet profound. Our breathing and pulse rate can change, our mood can alter, our spirit can awaken and nurture our souls. This is the same using flower essences.

What are Flower Essences?

Flower Essences are refined liquid extracts, normally taken in oral form. They are made from flowers such as Australian bush flowers, English and North American wildflowers. They are preserved in alcohol and distilled water. They are used to treat issues of emotional wellbeing in mind body health.

The use of flowers for healing is well documented in history. (1) ‘… the precise application of flower essences for specific emotions and attitudes was first developed by an English physician, Dr Edward Bach in the 1930’s.’

Bach Flower Essences

Dr Edward Bach, a London physician in the 1930's believed a person’s emotional state had a profound effect on their physical and mental wellbeing. Dr Bach began his medical career working as a bacteriologist. He based his treatment more on the emotions and attitudes of the patient than on a purely physical diagnosis. Dr Bach left his London practise and moved to the countryside to develop a new system of natural medicine made from wildflowers. He associated each plant remedy with specific human states of mind.

How are Flower Essences prepared?

Flower essences are made by infusion using fresh blossoms of the plant, prepared in liquid form with a natural preservative. Flower essences are mostly prepared from a sun infusion of either wildflowers or pure garden blossoms in a bowl of water which is diluted and preserved in 30%organic brandy. Flower essence therapy offers a safe, gentle support to restoring mental emotional balance. To dissipate the alcohol, place drops in a small glass of hot water. Wait until cooled and drink. Flower essence therapy is dispensed in 15ml, 20 ml, 25 ml or 50 ml brown dropper bottles.

‘Quality preparations requires careful attention to the purity of the environment, the vibrancy and potency of the blossom’s, celestials and meteorological conditions and sensitive study of the physical and energetic properties of the plant through its cycles of growth.’

How do Flower Essences work?

Work, family, social life, health all affect our mental well-being. Nature, health, wellness, illness, unsettling thoughts or lack of interest differ for each person. We can actively choose to help ourselves. We can make a decision to respond, to be responsible through our self-awareness of our thoughts and feelings. Flower essences are more than a remedy for emotional symptoms. They offer a catalyst for awareness and transformation.

The human body and mind work together as one, they need and depend on each other. We give so much energy to what we don’t want. Flower essences enable us to think about what we do want, allowing the body and mind to come together, to have insight into the peace and calmness that creates natural wellness.

What is the role of the mind, our thoughts and feelings on our physical body? A person’s emotions and attitudes in illness and recovery has an important role to play. Fear, uncertainty, loneliness, can transform into courage, clarity, independence and a peaceful state of mind. Flower essences are gentle, easy to take and values the significance of feelings, attitudes, and beliefs upon overall health and wellbeing.
